Inventions: irresistible trivia and historical breakthroughs

By Irina Kopaneva, Voronezh State University

Question 1 out of 10

Perhaps, when you buy a pack of it routinely, you do not even realize how old the invention is - nearly 100 years old! The first formulation of this product, invented by Frank Henry Fleer in 1906 was a complete flop because it was too sticky. Some time passed and another inventor, Walter E. Diemer, worked out a better formulation. The product very quickly won the hearts of many people, especially those who have a sweet tooth and has been one of the favorites ever since.
